FILEY 2026 – Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán
The Belize Book Sector Network (BBSN) is pleased to announce its participation in FILEY 2026 – Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán in Mérida, Mexico. The BBSN will host a booth showcasing Belizean books, authors, and publishers at this major regional literary event. Book Week 2026
Book Week 2026 will take place in Belize City from 22–23 April, bringing together writers, publishers, and readers for three days of literary celebration. Organised by the Belize Book Sector Network, the event will feature author talks, workshops, panel discussions, and more. Stay tuned for additional details as the full programme is confirmed.
World Book and Copyright Day 2026
World Book & Copyright Day 2026 will be celebrated on 23 April with nationwide activities that honour reading, creativity, and the value of authors’ rights. Public libraries and community spaces across Belize will host book displays, storytelling sessions, and other events to inspire a love of books and learning.
Book Launch: How Taiga Became Faiya Taiga
A book launch for How Taiga Became Faiya Taiga by Gail Lash, illustrated by Ian Gibson, will take place at the National Heritage Library in Belmopan on 18th March at 10:00 am. Inspired by the 2024 fires in Belize, the story follows a young jaguar who learns that fire can be both destructive and helpful, and that humans must use it responsibly. The event will include an author talk, a reading, and fun activities for children.
Book Week 2025
Book Week 2025 brought readers, writers, and communities together for a nationwide celebration of storytelling, highlighted by library activities on 23 April and the main event in Dangriga on 29 April. The festivities showcased Belizean literary talent and strengthened partnerships across the book sector. The Belize Book Sector Network thanks all participants for making the event a success.
FILEY 2025– Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán
In March 2025, the Belize Book Sector Network, then the BBIA, proudly represented Belize at the Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán (FILEY) in Mérida, Mexico. Sharing a booth with Benque Viejo del Carmen–based publisher Cubola, we showcased a range of Belizean titles to strong attendance and enthusiastic interest. We look forward to returning to FILEY in 2026 to continue promoting Belize’s literary voices.
