BBSN at FILEY 2025 – Showcasing Belizean Books in Mérida
In March 2025, the Belize Book Sector Network, then operating as the Belize Book Industry Association (BBIA), proudly represented Belize at the Feria Internacional de la Lectura Yucatán (FILEY) in Mérida, Mexico.
Held from 22 to 30 March at the Centro de Convenciones y Exposiciones Yucatán Siglo XXI, FILEY is one of the most significant literary and cultural events in southeastern Mexico. The fair brings together publishers, authors, and readers for a dynamic programme of book presentations, signings, lectures, workshops, performances, and exhibitions. With strong attendance throughout the week, it provided an excellent platform to introduce and promote Belizean literature to a regional audience.
BBSN shared a booth with Cubola Productions, the Benque Viejo del Carmen–based publisher, presenting a wide selection of Belizean titles. The response from attendees was enthusiastic, with many visitors expressing interest in Belize’s growing literary output and cultural voice.
Our participation in FILEY 2025 marked an important step in strengthening cross-border literary connections and expanding markets for Belizean books. We are grateful for the opportunity to have represented Belize at such a prestigious event.
We look forward to returning to FILEY in 2026 and continuing to share Belize’s stories with the region.
