Belize recently participated in the Segundo Encuentro de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil de Centroamérica in Guatemala City, where publishers, writers, and creators from across the region came together to exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks, and promote children's literature. Held ahead of this year's FILGUA, the gathering highlighted Belize's growing role in Central America's children's publishing community and fostered new opportunities for regional collaboration.

The fifth Central American Children’s Literature Prize, launched by Libros para Niños, invites writers across the region to submit original stories for children up to age 8. Open from 21 April to 20 August 2026, the competition offers a US$1,000 prize and publication for the winning entry. Submissions must be in Spanish and follow the official guidelines available online.
